Acupuncture Treatment for CRPS
Unfortunately in 2013, we still have no cure for RSD or CRPS. It is still a fairly complex disorder which doctors and researchers are struggling to understand more about. With no cure, treatment can be very difficult.
Acupuncture is a form of ancient eastern Chinese medicine. Today in the United States it has become an increasingly more popular form of treatment for a variety of conditions and diseases. Many doctors and studies today conclude that acupuncture may be a reliable form of treatment for CRPS or RSD particularly in children or teenagers.
Tiny needles are placed at certain points of the affected area which help relieve pain. Researcher’s from the Boston Children’s hospital suggest that acupuncture should be used as some form of treatment for teenagers with CRPS. Acupuncturists will place needles at specific points to enhance a healthy flow of Chi. After multiple sessions of acupuncture treatment, patients have reported increased mobility and decreasing pain in the affected area.
So when traditional medicine fails; be sure to explore your options of alternative methods of treatment which can be effective in relieving CRPS pain. Remember most insurance companies will not pay for a non-traditional form of treatment, and acupuncture does not fully treat the RSD. It only helps relieve some of the symptoms. Acupuncture does not have the ability to treat the neurological roots of the disease.
